Increasing Your Physical Intelligence, Enhancing Your Social Smarts
MIT's Experimental Study Group offers this course on the connection between bodily awareness and social cognition. Students examine how posture, movement, and physical presence shape how others perceive them and how they perform in social interactions. The curriculum draws on research from embodied cognition and nonverbal communication, combining exercises in physical awareness with discussion of the underlying psychology. Materials on MIT OpenCourseWare include the syllabus and assignments used in the original MIT class, letting learners work through the same framework students used to build a more deliberate sense of how the body affects social sensitivity and self-presentation. The course is free to access through MIT OpenCourseWare, with no certificate offered.
