Individuals, Groups, and Organizations
MIT Sloan School of Management's graduate course builds the core concepts behavioral scientists use to explain how people act alone, in groups, and inside organizations. Readings draw on foundational and current research papers, which students critically analyze rather than take at face value. Topics include individual affect and cognition, group process and performance, and organizational culture and adaptation, with an eye toward how these concepts can generate new organizational behavior research rather than just describe past findings. Course materials, available through MIT OpenCourseWare, include the syllabus, readings list, and assignments used in the actual class. The course is aimed at students who already have some grounding in behavioral science and want to work through primary research rather than a textbook survey. No certificate is offered since this is a self-paced OpenCourseWare publication of MIT's own course materials.
