MIT OpenCourseWare offers this undergraduate course on numerical methods for solving engineering problems. It covers the fundamentals of digital computing and how they affect algorithm accuracy and stability, error propagation, direct and iterative techniques for solving systems of linear equations, finding roots of equations and systems of equations, numerical interpolation, differentiation and integration, and finite-difference methods for ordinary differential equations, along with error and convergence analysis. Originally taught in MIT's Department of Ocean Engineering as 13.002J before that department merged into Mechanical Engineering, the course is designed to run over half a term. Materials include lecture notes, problem sets, and course structure typical of MIT OCW offerings, free to access with no certificate attached.
