Introduction to Organic Synthesis Laboratory
A laboratory course from MIT's Department of Chemistry, covering roughly a third of a semester and part of the URIECA (Undergraduate Research-Inspired Experimental Chemistry Alternatives) curriculum. Students gain hands-on experience with techniques used in synthetic organic chemistry and are introduced to catalytic chiral catalysis, a current research area in the field. The modular format is designed to connect classroom learning with cutting edge research topics, giving undergraduates practical bench skills alongside conceptual grounding. Materials are provided through MIT OpenCourseWare and typically include lab handouts, procedures, and background readings, in keeping with OCW's open publication of course content. No tuition or certificate fee applies, since OCW materials are published freely for self-study rather than for credit or certification.
