Separation Processes
Separation Processes is an MIT OpenCourseWare course covering equilibrium and rate-based separation methods used in chemical engineering. Lessons work through staged cascades and their application to distillation, absorption, adsorption, and membrane processes, along with the phase equilibria and diffusion principles that govern them. Materials include lecture notes, problem sets, and exams drawn from MIT's chemical engineering curriculum, letting students work through the same design calculations used to size industrial separation equipment. The course assumes prior exposure to thermodynamics and transport phenomena and builds toward practical column and stage design.
