MIT OpenCourseWare offers this introduction to the physics and chemistry of Earth's atmosphere, aimed at undergraduates and first year graduate students. The course covers atmospheric composition, radiative transfer, atmospheric chemistry and photochemistry, cloud and aerosol physics, and the dynamics that move heat and pollutants through the air. Students work with computer codes to model atmospheric processes rather than relying only on theory, connecting equations to actual behavior like ozone depletion or greenhouse warming. Materials include lecture notes, problem sets, and the numerical tools used in class, published freely under MIT's OpenCourseWare license. There is no instructor interaction or certificate, but the full set of course materials lets a motivated learner work through the same content MIT students use, provided they already have a physics and chemistry background.
