Laboratory in Cognitive Science
MIT OpenCourseWare offers this lab course on experimental methods in human perception and cognition, covering experimental design and statistical analysis. Students combine lectures with hands-on experimental exercises, working in teams to conduct and report on three experiments before designing and running a fourth, individual project that includes a written proposal, revisions, and a final report with oral presentation. The course emphasizes writing and presentation skills alongside research methodology, asking students to critique as well as conduct studies. Some programming experience is recommended. Materials include lecture notes and assignment descriptions from MIT's Brain and Cognitive Sciences department, free to access online with no certificate offered.
