Leveraging Urban Mobility Disruptions to Create Better Cities
MIT's Open Learning Library course examines how new transportation technologies, from ride-hailing to micromobility, can reshape cities for the better. Lectures come from transportation professors across Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the United States, paired with interviews with entrepreneurs, city planners, and community development experts. Topics include land use and urban form, new mobility business models and pricing, data and technology policy, and the design of systems that serve equity, health, and environmental goals. A dedicated segment looks at racial justice within the transportation field itself, as one factor among many shaping who benefits from new mobility options. All materials, including video lectures and readings, are free to view without enrolling, and the course can also be tracked with a free account through MIT's Open Learning Library.
