Operations Strategy
MIT Sloan School of Management's graduate course builds a framework for analyzing strategic issues in manufacturing and service operations. Students examine how companies relate to their suppliers, customers, and competitors, and study strategic decisions around technology choices, facility location and design, vertical integration, and human resources. The course also looks at how firms compete on cost, quality, and innovativeness, using case studies of manufacturing and service businesses to test the framework against real decisions. Materials available through MIT OpenCourseWare include the syllabus, readings, case assignments, and lecture notes, following MIT's standard OCW format. No instructor grading or certificate is offered, since OCW publishes course materials for self-study rather than enrollment, but the full curriculum structure from an MIT Sloan MBA elective is included.
