Network and Computer Security
An MIT OpenCourseWare course covering the design and analysis of secure computer systems and networks. Topics include cryptographic protocols, authentication, access control, malware, network security mechanisms such as firewalls and intrusion detection, web security, and case studies of real attacks and defenses. Materials include lecture notes, problem sets, and past exams drawn from MIT's 6.857 course, an upper-level undergraduate and first-year graduate offering within the Computer Systems and Architecture concentration of the EECS department. Students work through technical readings and homework assignments that build practical understanding of how systems get compromised and how they can be hardened. The course is free to access through MIT OpenCourseWare and requires no enrollment or payment; no certificate is offered, but full course materials are downloadable for self-study.
