Practice of Finance: Advanced Corporate Risk Management
Corporate risk management taught from the perspective of the end-user of derivatives, the manufacturing firm, the utility, or the software company, rather than the investment bank or trading desk. The course covers how firms apply futures, options, and other derivative instruments to protect real assets, stabilize cash flows, and preserve the financial flexibility needed to carry out corporate strategy. Some pricing models are introduced, but the emphasis stays on application inside a company's operations rather than on trading or exploiting mispricing. Materials from MIT Sloan School of Management include lecture notes, readings, and assignments built around real corporate risk decisions. Offered through MIT OpenCourseWare under a Creative Commons license, the course is free to access, with no certificate attached, and is aimed at students who already have some grounding in finance and derivatives.
