Pre-7.01: Getting up to Speed in Biology
A preparatory biology course from MIT OpenCourseWare, designed to bring incoming students up to speed before tackling MIT's introductory biology class (7.01), and equally useful for anyone about to start a college-level intro biology course. Lecture videos cover the molecules of life, the cell and how it works, information transfer in biology, inheritance and genetics, and building with DNA. The course includes interactive exercises, problem sets, and one exam, all self-paced and free to use through OCW's Open Learning Library. Enrollment is optional; you can track progress if you sign up or simply browse and use every material without registering. There is no institutional certificate, but the full set of MIT teaching materials, from lecture content to assessments, is openly available for independent study.
