Research Seminar in System Dynamics
A doctoral-level MIT Sloan seminar on system dynamics modeling applied to social, economic, and technical systems. Sessions work through classic papers in dynamic modeling drawn from multiple disciplines alongside current research problems, with participants critiquing existing theories and models. Much of the work involves replicating published models, testing their assumptions, and proposing improvements. Materials on MIT OpenCourseWare include readings, model papers, and assignment descriptions used in the seminar. The course assumes graduate-level familiarity with system dynamics and is aimed at students preparing to do original modeling research rather than newcomers to the field. No certificate is offered, consistent with MIT OpenCourseWare's open publication of course materials rather than a taught, credentialed class.
