MIT's Edgerton Center offers this studio course on visual communication for science and engineering students. It covers principles of graphic design and teaches practical skills in creating print and web graphics, animations, and interactive media, with an emphasis on using these tools to explain scientific and engineering concepts for teaching and learning. The course centers on three hands-on creative projects that students build and present in class, giving them direct practice translating technical material into visual form. Materials are available through MIT OpenCourseWare under a Creative Commons license, free to access with no certificate offered. The approach suits students who want to strengthen how they present data, processes, or concepts visually rather than purely through text or equations.
