Advanced Macroeconomics II
A second-year PhD macroeconomics course from MIT (14.462), the second semester in the sequence following Advanced Macroeconomics I. It introduces analytical tools used in current macroeconomic research and covers a selection of advanced topics that shifts from year to year, including growth and fluctuations, heterogeneity and incomplete markets, optimal fiscal policy, time inconsistency, reputation, coordination games and macroeconomic complementarities, and information. The course is delivered through MIT OpenCourseWare, drawing on the graduate curriculum taught to MIT economics doctoral students. Materials available include lecture notes, readings, and problem sets used in the actual PhD sequence. This is a research-oriented course aimed at students already grounded in first-year graduate macroeconomics and formal modeling, rather than an introductory survey. No certificate is offered, consistent with MIT OpenCourseWare's open publication model.
