A graduate level MIT OpenCourseWare course covering advanced topics in macroeconomic theory, taught by Professors Olivier Blanchard and Guido Lorenzoni. Blanchard's lectures address shocks, labor market dynamics and unemployment, and dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) models. Lorenzoni's sessions cover demand shocks, the macroeconomic effects of news under varying assumptions about nominal rigidities, investment under credit constraints, and liquidity and its aggregate effects. The course includes lecture notes and readings drawn from current research in macroeconomic theory, following MIT's standard OpenCourseWare format of published materials without live instruction or graded credentials. It is intended for students who already have a background in macroeconomics and are ready to engage with formal modeling techniques used in contemporary academic research. Materials are freely available under MIT's open license.
