MIT OpenCourseWare presents this variant of 18.02 Multivariable Calculus, taught with a sharper focus on the underlying mathematical concepts rather than routine computation. Topics include vectors and matrices, partial derivatives, gradients, multiple integrals, and vector calculus theorems such as Green's, Stokes', and the divergence theorem, covering the same ground as the standard course but building more rigorous conceptual foundations. Professor James McKernan developed the course with contributions from Lars Hesselholt. Materials include lecture notes, assignments, and exams, all freely downloadable through MIT OpenCourseWare, with no certificate offered. It suits students who have completed single-variable calculus and want a more theoretical treatment before moving into linear algebra or real analysis.
