Compressible fluid dynamics from MIT's Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, delivered as OpenCourseWare lecture materials. The course opens with governing equations, thermodynamic relations and the characteristic parameters used to classify compressible flows, then moves into quasi-one-dimensional flow and a discussion of disturbances and unsteady behavior. The second half covers gas dynamic discontinuities, including shock waves and detonations, before closing with two-dimensional flows, both linear and non-linear. Materials follow MIT's standard OCW format of lecture notes and problem sets drawn from an actual graduate-level subject. Free to access under a Creative Commons license, with no certificate offered. Suited to students with a background in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics who want the full derivation-heavy treatment of high-speed aerodynamics rather than a conceptual overview.
