Development, Planning, and Implementation: The Dialectic of Theory and Practice
An advanced seminar from MIT's Department of Urban Studies and Planning that examines development and planning theories through the eyes of practitioners who actually carry out projects and policies. Readings and discussions test established planning frameworks against real implementation experience, asking where theory holds up on the ground and where it breaks down. The course works toward building new planning sensibilities that emerge from practice rather than being imposed on it beforehand.
