MIT OpenCourseWare offers this lab-based introduction to electronics, taught during MIT's January Independent Activities Period. Students learn passive and active components including op-amps, 555 timers, and TTL digital circuits, along with the theory behind basic analog and digital circuits. Labs are the core of the course, giving students hands-on practice with function generators, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power supplies while building and soldering several circuits. The final lab has students construct an electronic circuit they keep afterward. Aimed at freshmen and others new to electronics, the course pairs classroom concepts directly with bench work rather than treating lab time as an afterthought. Materials are freely available through MIT OpenCourseWare, with no certificate offered, following MIT's standard open licensing for course content.
