Ordinary differential equations covered with a theoretical emphasis, following the same syllabus as MIT's standard Differential Equations course (18.03) but adding rigorous treatment of topics like existence and uniqueness theorems. The course materials from MIT OpenCourseWare include lecture notes, problem sets, and exams covering first and second order equations, linear systems, series solutions, Laplace transforms, and qualitative and numerical methods, alongside the proofs and theoretical justifications usually left aside in an applied treatment. Assignments push beyond computation into understanding why the standard solution techniques work. The course is free to study through MIT OpenCourseWare, with all materials available for self-paced learning; no certificate is offered, consistent with OCW's model. Suited to students who already have a first exposure to differential equations and want the underlying mathematical structure made explicit.
