Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory
MIT OpenCourseWare's advanced survey of modern macroeconomics, aimed at students considering graduate study in economics. Topics cover neoclassical and new growth theory, consumption and saving behavior, investment, and unemployment, with dynamic programming introduced as a core analytical tool. Course materials include problem sets and written assignments that ask students to interpret real macroeconomic events using the models developed in class. The course builds from standard growth frameworks toward the intertemporal optimization techniques used in current research, giving students a working knowledge of how economists model household and firm decisions over time. As with other MIT OCW offerings, lecture notes and assignments are freely available online, with no certificate offered, making this a self-study resource rather than an instructor-led class.
