This MIT OpenCourseWare course applies macroeconomic tools to policy problems across three time horizons: long run economic growth, intermediate run government finances, and short run economic stability. Students work through the major models economists use to analyze these issues, including growth theory, fiscal policy frameworks, and business cycle models. Materials include lecture notes, problem sets, and exams drawn from an actual MIT undergraduate course, letting learners see how the models are applied to real policy questions rather than only in the abstract. The course assumes prior exposure to introductory macroeconomics and builds toward the analytical tools economists use to evaluate government debt, inflation, and growth policy. As with all MIT OCW offerings, the materials are free to access and there is no certificate; this is a self-study resource of the original course content, not a facilitated class.
