Labor Economics II
A graduate-level MIT OpenCourseWare course covering the theory and evidence behind wage structure, inequality, employment, and job loss. Topics include wage determination models such as the Roy model, equalizing wage differentials, and models of discrimination, along with how supply, demand, labor market institutions, technology, and trade shape the evolving distribution of income. The course also examines early-life determinants of long-run economic outcomes. Materials include lecture notes, readings, and problem sets drawn from current labor economics research, reflecting MIT's PhD-level curriculum. No enrollment or certificate is offered; materials are free to access and reuse under a Creative Commons license. Suited to students with a background in microeconomics and econometrics who want to study labor markets at a research level.
