Leadership Lab
This five-day workshop from MIT's Sloan School of Management examines how leaders drive innovation that serves both social responsibility and business performance. The course runs in three phases: observation, sense-making, and creating. Students spend a day inside design firm IDEO's Boston office and visit organizations known for corporate social responsibility work, including Ben & Jerry's, Plug Power, Schlumberger, PwC, and members of the UN Global Compact. After these visits, students share observations with classmates before moving into project teams that design and implement innovation projects addressing needs in a local community, presenting their results on the final day. Materials include the course syllabus and assignment structure as published on MIT OpenCourseWare. The course was renumbered 15.975 starting in 2004.
