Managerial Psychology Laboratory
MIT's Sloan School of Management offers this course on testing intuitions about workplace behavior with actual data. Students develop a critical eye for drawing inferences from research, learn to carry out simple statistical analysis, and study core topics in managerial psychology such as motivation, judgment, and decision making. The course is structured as a lab: students formulate their own questions about managerial psychology and design small studies to test them, then interpret and present the results. Materials available through MIT OpenCourseWare include the syllabus, assignments, and lab exercises used in the actual MIT class. The course is free to audit under MIT's open license, with no certificate offered. It suits anyone wanting hands-on practice separating solid empirical claims about workplace behavior from confident-sounding but untested assumptions.
