Single Variable Calculus
This MIT OCW Scholar edition of David Jerison's calculus course was built specifically for independent learners, covering differentiation, integration of functions of one variable, and a closing unit on infinite series and Taylor series. It packages lecture videos with supporting written notes, recitation videos of problem-solving tips, worked examples with full solutions, problem sets and exams with solutions, and interactive Java applets called Mathlets that let you manipulate concepts like secant and tangent lines directly. The course is organized into five numbered units, from differentiation through techniques of integration and a final exam, each broken into lettered parts so self-study has a clear path. A team including Arthur Mattuck, Haynes Miller, and Jeremy Orloff developed the content specifically to be more complete than a typical OCW course. It is the foundational calculus sequence that MIT's science, engineering, and economics students all take before anything more specialized.
