A second-year intermediate Spanish course from MIT OpenCourseWare focused on speaking and listening rather than writing. Students build vocabulary and review selected grammar points while practicing through group activities, class discussions, and individual oral reports. Materials for those reports draw on readings, films, music, and art, giving students varied source material to discuss and analyze in Spanish. The course emphasizes comprehension of spoken Spanish and the ability to produce extended spoken responses, rather than grammar drills. As with other MIT OCW offerings, course materials are freely available online, though the course is designed for classroom use with an instructor and peers for conversation practice. No certificate is offered, but the syllabus, activity structure, and topic materials are provided for self-study or reference by instructors and independent learners.
