MIT Sloan's graduate course on how organizations actually function, taught through three complementary lenses: political, cultural, and strategic design. Students learn to analyze why certain individual styles and skills succeed in some organizational contexts and fail in others, building tools to manage and lead change initiatives. The course was originally paired with a team field study of a real organizational change effort and shared assignments with a communications course, giving the material a practical, applied edge beyond lecture theory. MIT OpenCourseWare provides the syllabus, readings, and assignments used in the original class. There are no videos, so the course works best for self-directed learners comfortable studying from case materials and written assignments rather than recorded lectures. No certificate is offered, consistent with OpenCourseWare's open publishing model.
