Spanish IV
Spanish IV continues MIT's language sequence, building oral and written fluency through the literature and culture of Spain, Latin America, and Hispanic communities in the United States. The course is organized around thematic units covering cultural identity, the changing roles of women and family, economic development's effects on cultural heritage and environment, and individual rights within political systems. Students read and discuss literary and non-literary texts in Spanish, working on both comprehension and critical response. Materials from MIT OpenCourseWare include the syllabus, thematic readings, and assignments used in the actual classroom version of the course. As with other MIT OCW offerings, the material is free to study but carries no certificate or instructor feedback. It suits learners who already have intermediate Spanish and want to push into more advanced reading, writing, and cultural analysis.
