This is the second semester of MIT's introductory physics sequence, covering electricity and magnetism through the TEAL (Technology Enabled Active Learning) format, which replaces the traditional lecture hall with small-group work stations equipped with computers and desktop experiments. Topics run from electrostatics and Gauss's law through circuits, magnetic fields, electromagnetic induction, Maxwell's equations, and electromagnetic waves. Materials on MIT OpenCourseWare include lecture notes, in-class problem sets known as studio activities, simulations, exams with solutions, and video of experiments students run at their tables. The course was built to give students hands-on intuition for fields and forces that are otherwise only described in equations, rather than watched from the back of a hall. No certificate is offered, but the full curriculum used at MIT is open for self-study.
