MIT OpenCourseWare's Aeronautics and Astronautics course covers control design and analysis using state-space methods, combining theory with practical application. Lessons build from linearizing nonlinear systems and analyzing stability, to designing controllers with state-space techniques and checking them against classical control tools. The course addresses real implementation concerns such as time delay and nonlinearity, and teaches students to judge how robust a given controller is to modeling errors. Materials include lecture notes, problem sets, and exams as published on MIT OpenCourseWare, free to access with no enrollment or certificate fee. The course assumes prior exposure to classical control and linear systems, and is aimed at students who already understand basic feedback concepts and want to move into state-space design and robustness analysis.
