Information Technology in the Health Care System of the Future
MIT OpenCourseWare shares this graduate seminar on how information technology reshapes health care delivery, from network-integrated decision support tools for clinicians to e-commerce and patient self-care applications. Tutorials give students structured time for interactive discussion of readings and case material. The course draws Harvard and MIT graduate students from medicine, business, law, education, engineering, computer science, public health, and government into interdisciplinary project teams, each tasked with designing an original IT application for the health care marketplace. Teams present their finished projects during the final class session. Materials include the syllabus, project guidelines, and student presentation records made available through MIT OpenCourseWare at no cost, with no certificate offered. The course was retitled Enabling Technology Innovation in Healthcare and the Life Sciences starting in 2010.
