Introductory Quantum Mechanics II
Time-dependent quantum mechanics for chemistry students, taught through MIT OpenCourseWare. The course builds from time-dependent perturbation theory into spectroscopy, covering how light interacts with molecules to produce absorption and emission spectra, and moves into relaxation processes and statistical descriptions of ensembles relevant to condensed phase systems. Materials include lecture notes, problem sets, and exams drawn from an MIT graduate-level chemistry course, with an emphasis on applying formal quantum theory to real spectroscopic and relaxation phenomena rather than abstract formalism alone. It assumes prior quantum mechanics coursework and is meant for students who already have the basic postulates and simple systems under control.
