Physics for Solid-State Applications
MIT OpenCourseWare offers this advanced course on the physics underlying solid-state devices, covering classical and quantum models of electrons and lattice vibrations. Topics include crystal lattice structures, electronic energy band structures, phonon dispersion relations, the effective mass theorem, semiclassical equations of motion, and impurity states in semiconductors. The course connects quantum theory of solids to quasifermi levels and Boltzmann transport equations used in practical device modeling, and examines band structure and transport properties of selected semiconductors.
