MIT OpenCourseWare's graduate course builds the theory of labor supply, labor demand, and human capital from the ground up. Lectures cover wage and employment determination, job turnover, search theory, immigration, unemployment, equalizing wage differences, and the role of labor market institutions. The course pairs theoretical modeling with empirical work throughout, showing how economists test labor theories against real data. Materials include lecture notes, problem sets, and readings drawn from the graduate labor economics curriculum. No certificate is offered, but the full set of course materials is free to access and use for self-study or teaching, under MIT's open license.
