MIT's introduction to experimental biochemical and molecular techniques, taught from a quantitative engineering perspective. The course is built around three discovery-based laboratory modules covering genome engineering, expression engineering, and biomaterial engineering, with experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication running through all of them. Materials on MIT OpenCourseWare include the syllabus, lab modules, assignments, and readings adapted from the original OpenWetWare class wiki (20.109). Students work through hands-on protocols used in MIT's biological engineering department, learning to plan experiments, interpret quantitative results, and write them up in the style of a research report. No enrollment or certificate is offered since this is a self-study OpenCourseWare release, but the full set of lab materials and assignments is downloadable for independent study.
