Law for the Entrepreneur and Manager
MIT Sloan School of Management course tracing the legal life cycle of a company, from its breakaway founding through financing, growth, and eventually going public. The first half covers the building blocks of business law along with company organization and financing. The second half examines intellectual property, product development, mergers and acquisitions, international trade, the duties of directors and officers, business disputes, and bankruptcy and reorganization. Rather than teaching technical legal skills, the course aims to sharpen the judgment students will need as entrepreneurs, managers, consultants, or advisors. Coursework consists of two take-home exercises and no exams. Materials are provided through MIT OpenCourseWare under a Creative Commons license, free to access, with no certificate offered.
