Macroeconomic Theory III
MIT OpenCourseWare's graduate course on consumption, investment, and asset prices builds up the core macroeconomic models used to explain how households and firms make intertemporal decisions. Lectures lay out the basic theoretical frameworks first, then turn to empirical facts about consumption smoothing, investment behavior, and asset pricing puzzles that motivate extensions beyond the textbook models. Materials include lecture notes, problem sets, and readings drawn from academic papers in macroeconomics and finance. The course assumes familiarity with earlier macroeconomic theory sequences and is aimed at graduate-level students working through the mathematical apparatus behind modern consumption and asset-pricing theory. As with other MIT OCW offerings, all materials are free to access under a Creative Commons license, with no certificate offered.
