Numerical Marine Hydrodynamics
MIT's Department of Ocean Engineering course on numerical methods applied to fluid dynamics problems. Topics include interpolation, differentiation, integration, and solving systems of linear equations, followed by numerical integration of differential equations and partial differential equations of inviscid hydrodynamics using finite difference methods and boundary integral panel methods. Later sessions cover introductory numerical lifting surface computations, fast Fourier transforms, numerical representation of deterministic and random sea waves, and integral boundary layer equations with their numerical solutions. Originally numbered 13.024 before ocean engineering subjects moved into the Mechanical Engineering department as 2.29. Materials are provided through MIT OpenCourseWare and include lecture notes and problem sets, free to access under MIT's open license, with no certificate offered.
