MIT Sloan's six-week introduction to optimization modeling for business decisions, offered through the Open Learning Library. Students learn linear programming theory, basic Julia programming, and how to use linear and nonlinear solvers to build and analyze optimization models. No prior background in linear algebra or calculus is required, since the theoretical material is presented in an accessible way. The course covers roughly half the content of MIT's full 15.053 (Spring 2013) subject, focusing on modeling rather than the deeper algorithmic and theoretical topics of the original class. Materials include interactive exercises with immediate feedback, allowing self-paced study.
