MIT's Department of Physics offers this three-part series on quantum computation, archived and free to use on the Open Learning Library. The first module covers foundations of quantum and classical computing, including quantum mechanics, reversible computation, and quantum measurement. The second covers simple quantum protocols and algorithms: teleportation, superdense coding, the Deutsch-Jozsa and Simon's algorithms, Grover's search algorithm, and Shor's factoring algorithm. The third covers quantum communication, including noise, quantum channels, and quantum key distribution. Materials can be used without enrolling, or you can enroll in each module to track progress. Linear algebra background is recommended; prior quantum mechanics knowledge helps but is not required. This is graduate-level material originally built for MIT's 8.370x sequence, covering the mathematical and physical foundations behind modern quantum computing and cryptography.
