Adaptive Antennas and Phased Arrays
Sixteen lectures from MIT Lincoln Laboratory senior staff member Dr. Alan J. Fenn covering the theory and experimental practice behind two related antenna technologies. Lectures 1 through 7 focus on adaptive antennas, including how arrays sense and null interference. Lectures 8 through 16 cover phased arrays, the beam-steering systems used in radar and communications, and can be studied before or after the adaptive antennas section since the two parts stand independently. The course mixes derivations with descriptions of laboratory experiments, aimed at practicing electrical engineers and upper-level students who already have a background in electromagnetics. Materials are published through MIT OpenCourseWare under a Creative Commons license, free to access with no certificate offered. This is a technical, lecture-based course rather than a project course, so the primary format is recorded talks paired with supporting notes.
