Information Technology as an Integrating Force in Manufacturing
This MIT Sloan School of Management course, offered through MIT OpenCourseWare, surveys the information technology concepts that underpin modern manufacturing and enterprise operations. Topics include computer networks and the World Wide Web, hardware and operating systems, software development tools and processes, relational databases, security and cryptography, enterprise applications, business-to-business systems, the semantic web, and electronic commerce. The course was designed with an emphasis on manufacturing settings and originally aimed at Sloan Leaders for Manufacturing students, though the materials are open to anyone. Course materials include lecture notes and readings covering these topics, giving managers and engineers a working vocabulary for evaluating and deploying information systems. As with other MIT OpenCourseWare offerings, all materials are free to access and there is no certificate involved.
