New Century Cities: Real Estate, Digital Technology, and Design
This MIT OpenCourseWare seminar brings together faculty from the Center for Real Estate, the Department of Urban Studies and Planning's City Design and Development Group, and the Media Lab to examine projects that mix real estate development, urban design, and emerging digital technology. Sessions cover case studies of buildings and districts that use sensors, data platforms, and new fabrication methods to rethink how cities are financed, designed, and built. Readings and guest lectures introduce frameworks from finance, architecture, and computation, and assignments ask students to analyze or propose projects that combine these disciplines.
