Global Health Innovation: Delivering Targeted Advice to an Organization in the Field
MIT Sloan's three-day workshop introduces global health issues through a case study of an Indian NGO that works to improve health across the lifespan by mobilizing existing community resources. Students examine the organization's approach to child development, adolescent and youth health, mental health, and chronic disease, then develop targeted recommendations for its work in the field. The workshop is part of MIT Sloan's Sloan Innovation Period, an intensive elective format built around experiential leadership learning and direct engagement with an outside organization rather than lecture-based instruction. Materials available through MIT OpenCourseWare include the syllabus and assignment structure used to guide students toward practical advice for the NGO. The course suits students interested in applying management thinking to real-world health delivery problems in a low-resource setting.
