MIT OpenCourseWare offers this advanced graduate course on computer-aided design of multivariable feedback control systems. Topics include performance and robustness trade-offs, model-based compensators, Q-parameterization, ill-posed optimization problems, dynamic augmentation, linear-quadratic optimization, H-infinity controller design, Mu-synthesis, model and compensator simplification, and nonlinear effects on control loops. Assignments consist of computer-aided design problems worked in MATLAB, applying the theoretical frameworks to synthesize and evaluate controllers under realistic constraints. The course is aimed at students who already have a background in control theory and want to move into rigorous multivariable and robust control design methods.
